Overview
Made for Meta Quest 2 and 3. You arrive at a character's office for another day of work, a space I made as mundane as possible, a little like the Backrooms. You switch on a big, chunky old computer running an old version of Windows with a green-meadow wallpaper, then shrink down and walk into that bright, fun world.
It's about escapism: an office worker who hates his mundane job, and a computer as the escape so many people use, except he escapes physically, into the digital world.
What I did
I came up with the concept and built the experience. The big challenge was shrinking a VR player. I solved it with two versions of the environment: the teleporter moves the player into an enlarged version of the map, so they appear to have shrunk.
What I learned
To practise having unique ideas, which I always aim for in projects like this, and to embrace the hard challenges they bring.
I also learned that terrain is really hard to make well. I think I redeemed myself on that in Mt Tmolus.
